Building Confidence in UK HR
A practical one-day course designed to build confidence in your HR practices
Who is the training for?
This training is designed for those that know the basics and want to learn a little more about the realities of HR.
What will you learn?
This course moves beyond policies and procedures to explore how HR principles are applied in real workplace situations. Through practical examples, case studies and general advice from real life experience, you will develop a greater confidence in your abilities. We will look at practicalities you are not taught through qualifications.
Course Outline
We will cover over the course of the day:
- Moving from theory to practical application of employment law.
- Delivering advice.
- Managing disciplinaries and the various people and scenarios you may come across.
- Advice on taking minutes and notes.
- Dealing with Trade Union representatives in your day-to-day activities.
- Managing the pressure of the role.
If you have a specific topic you are interested in, please discuss before the training as we may be able to include it in the session.
This course is UK-focused, with particular emphasis on employment law and workplace practices applicable in England and Wales. While many of the principles discussed will be relevant across the UK, there are differences in employment legislation and legal processes in Scotland and Northern Ireland. The training is intended as practical learning and general guidance and should not be considered a substitute for specific legal advice.

Who will be your trainer?
Georgina is an experienced HR professional and has led HR functions within growing UK and global businesses. She holds a CIPD Level 7 in Strategic People Management and has hands-on experience developing HR strategies, advising leaders on UK employment law, building HR infrastructure and managing people across complex, multi-site and international environments.
Her practical, commercially-focused approach means this course goes beyond theory, using real world HR experiences to explain how UK HR works in practice.
